About Saint Mary's College

Saint Mary's College is a private Catholic liberal arts college in Notre Dame, which is an unincorporated community northeast of South Bend in St. Joseph County, in the US state of Indiana, split between Clay and Portage Townships.

Sain Mary's College was established in 1844 and it is named in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Given the fact that it has been educating women for over 165 years, it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education for women. Also known as `The Nation's Premier Catholic Women's College`, Saint Mary's is consistently ranked among the best Liberal Arts schools in the U.S. News and World Report annual survey of American colleges and universities, in 2009-2010 ranking 97th.

Saint Mary's currently offers its students 31 major areas of study and minors available in over 40 areas, including bachelor of arts, business administration, fine arts, music and science, among other educational programs.

Athletics
